Dallas Toenail Fungus Treatment

Fungal toenail infections are a common foot health problem, although many people don’t realize they are suffering from the condition. The disease is characterized by a change in a toenail’s color, texture, or thickness, and may not cause pain. The podiatry specialists at North Texas Foot & Ankle, located conveniently the Dallas metroplex, are proud to offer innovative technologies such as the Noveon Nail Laser for treatment of toenail fungus (Onychomycosis) and the Keryflex nail restoration system to improve the appearance of nails damaged by fungus.

Toenail fungus is a common problem affecting millions of people throughout the world. Though often painless, it is a difficult condition to treat due to the fungus spreading inside and under the nail tissue. With the nail tissue being a hard and largely impermeable surface, it can be difficult to get medication directly on the fungus deep within the nail to kill it.

Dallas Noveon Nail Laser Treatment for Toenail Fungus

The Noveon Laser utilizes two wavelengths of laser light in order to target and destroy the nail fungus cells and prevent them from spreading. The unique near-infrared photo-inactivation effect allows for the elimination of the bacteria and fungi, while preserving healthy tissue. Noveon nail laser therapy for toenail fungus helps to advance the recovery process with virtually no side effects. The fully automated design of the Noveon Toenail Laser ensures that the correct dose is given for each fungal toenail treatment.

Dallas KeryFlex Nail Restoration

For patients who want to wear sandals or have a special event, North Texas Foot & Ankle near Dallas is proud to offer the KeryFlex nail restoration system, an affordable solution to restore the look of toenails and prevent reinfection during the toenail fungus clearing process.

Keryflex TreatmentKeryflex nail restoration system utilizes polymer resins combined with special activators to create a durable and flexible artificial nail. KeryFlex can only be offered by certified podiatrists who are trained in this innovative technique. It is a non-porous material, which prevents water from absorbing in the nail and prevents fungus from growing. Traditional acrylic nails allow water to absorb underneath and fungus to develop and grow.

Following the KeryFlex procedure, which takes approximately 10-15 minutes per nail, the patient is able to wear socks, shoes, apply nail polish, etc… The applications generally last between 6-8 weeks or the KeryFlex nail can be removed by the North Texas Foot & Ankle specialists.

Keryflex is not a treatment for fungal toenails like the Noveon Toenail Laser, but is designed for cosmetic use to make fungal toenails appear more attractive while the infection clears.
